The season of 2016/17 has been another awesome one for our trainees in France and Switzerland. With loads of fun and amazing success stories from BASI Level 1 though to Level 4.  So we wanted to take a quick look back at some of our highlights of the winter… and what a winter it has been!

Our BASI Level 1 and 2 trainees got off to a great start in Tignes, Courchevel, Meribel and Verbier. Enjoying some awesome powder days as well as some good character building white outs. They all smashed through their Level 1, meaning that 100% of the people who joined us left resort as qualified ski instructors.

The BASI Level 2, which is a big technical jump up from the Level 1, proved no challenge to you guys – with 9 out of 10 smashing a pass in Meribel, 7 out of 9 in Courchevel and 8 out of 10 in Verbier. It is also a testament to how hard you all trained that not a single person in any resort was given a full fail.

The avalanche safety kits (transceiver, shovel and probe) which were given to everyone on our gap courses were definitely put to good use! We expected you would make the most of them on the awesome powder days so that was no surprise, but we just did not see the igloo in Meribel coming – great use of the shovels there guys!igloo fun

Last winter by popular demand we set up our first BASI Level 3 ISIA programme in Verbier. Along with the ISIA Work and Train programme in Villars, this meant lots of people got the chance to work towards their Level 3 with us. It was a great winter for it and we are so impressed with how many exams you guys managed to tick off, with several of you even passing the demanding ISIA tech this winter. Nice work.

Our BASI Level 4 Work and Train programme in Verbier proved no exception to these successes. A full team of freshly qualified ISIA’s joined those already working towards the Level 4. Tom and Jon definitely put you though your paces and you all worked really hard teaching in the holidays, but still seemed to find time for some serious sledging.

ski instructor work and train

More exciting news from Verbier this winter was the addition of our own sit ski, meaning that we were able to offer more adaptive ski lessons. We were thrilled to have the chance to do this and can’t wait to expand this more in the future.

As always we had team members going for the elusive eurotest. This is a timed giant slalom that is the “Mount Everest” of many people working for their full Level 4 ISTD qualification. Josh, Amy, Rory, Will and Dan you all smashed it this season and we are so proud. We can’t wait to welcome you back in blue next year as you join our fully certified instructor teams in Tignes, Courchevel La Tania and Meribel.

Of course we couldn’t have done it all without our incredible instructor team. They routinely go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure they deliver the best courses possible. So a big shout out to Ross Sampson, Lewis Maclellan, Sam Pickup, Barney, Gareth Shelbourne, Dave Morris, Tom Speakman, Sam Taylor, Pete Miles, Andy Hind, Gordon Porteous, Rob Wilhelmsson, Tom Waddington, Jon Ahlsen, David “Davalanche” Roberts and last but not least, Ale Cambon. We salute you!

After another great winter we are so excited that we will be seeing so many of you back again next year and we can’t wait to meet everyone already booked onto our courses. Next season looks to be another corker with a new resort, St Anton, thrown into the mix as well as more exciting updates to all of our courses.

There are still limited places available on certain training programmes so do get in touch if you want to join us for another amazing season. See you on the slopes!ski eurotest pass
