NEW GENERATION TERMS AND CONDITIONS 2017

Applicable for all Instructor Course bookings made after the 31st Jan 2017. Please read these terms and conditions before making a booking, by booking with us you agree to the terms and conditions listed below.

Please refer to the course outlines or our website for a description of the Instructor Courses referred to in these terms and conditions.

As an applicant for a BASI and/or New Generation Course, whether applying by telephone, email, online or letter you agree to abide by these conditions.

If anything in these terms and conditions is not clear, or you would like to discuss them, please do give us a call and we would be happy to talk you through them.

GENERAL BOOKING TERMS

1.All prices quoted by us and paid for by you are for the course only. Unless otherwise stated you must arrange and pay separately for all other potential costs connected with the course, for example any equipment, lift passes, accommodation and insurance.

2.For all Instructor Courses with the exception of the 10/11 Week Residential Courses, BASI 2 FastTrack Course and the Alpine Level 3 Training, you are paying the full course fees on booking.

a.In the case of the 10/11 Week Residential Courses, BASI 2 FastTrack course and the Alpine Level 3 and 4 Training courses you are paying a Non-Refundable deposit. On Payment of this deposit you are agreeing to the full course fees payable according to the payment plan agreed by New Generation.

3.You must have fulfilled all the course prerequisites, as outlined in the Course Specific Information. Failure to comply will incur charges in line with our cancellation policy.

4. All students must be insured for their course. New Generation do not supply insurance, but can suggest some companies to you that our students have used in the past.

5. Cancellation

a. Cancellation must be notified IN WRITING ONLY to the New Generation Office by email or letter. Verbal instructions to cancel are not acceptable and will not be acted upon by the New Generation Office.

b. In the event of cancellation by the student neither the deposit or subsequent instalments paid are refundable or transferable.

c. In the event of us filling the course and reselling your space New Generation may at its discretion issue a refund minus an administration fee of 10%.

d. New Generation strongly recommends that you have insurance which includes cover for cancellation and curtailment when booking a BASI or New Generation Course.

e. No monies will be refunded by New Generation, or on behalf of BASI, in the event of an injury sustained either before or whilst participating in the course. Where injury leads to curtailment of the course; in this instance, it is necessary to make an insurance claim.

6. If the venue of the course is adversely affected by snow, weather or any other circumstances, New Generation reserves the right to cancel the course or alter the venue without prior notice or warning

7. New Generation reserves the right to refuse training to any applicant who;

a. In the opinion of New Generation is unsuitable for Snowsport Instructor training.

b. Is found under the influence of alcohol or drugs during course contact time.

c. Behaves in an unprofessional manner or in a way which may cause damage to New Generation or its reputation.

8. In the event that an applicant is refused training or removed from the course on the basis of points a, b, or c above no monies will be refunded.

9. All changes to bookings must be received in writing, by email or letter.

BASI

10. All courses will be confirmed as running at least 6 weeks before commencement of the course. We require a minimum number of 8 people for a BASI Assessment to run.

11. As a BASI Business Partner, New Generation reserves the right to remove you from the course on Behalf of BASI if:

a. You are found to exhibit behaviour which is deemed to be inappropriate, unprofessional and/or detrimental to BASI;

b. You are found to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or addictive substances, during course contact time.

12. New Generation on Behalf of BASI will not be liable for any physical or financial hardship which may be incurred whilst attending a BASI course.

Stand Alone BASI Course Terms and Conditions – Alpine Level 1 and Alpine Level 2

1. If you are under 18 years of age after booking you will be emailed a parental consent form that must in turn be posted to New Generation Rue de la Chapelle, Le Praz, Courchevel, 73120. Please ensure that the Parental Consent form is signed by a parent or guardian.

2. Payment is required in full on booking.

a. If you arrive at resort, having not paid the balance, as detailed on your invoice for your course, you will not be accepted on to the course.

3. Courses

a. New Generation reserves the right to cancel courses at any time prior to the course date. In this eventuality New Generation will refund any monies paid.

b. If you, the delegate, chooses to cancel their space on a course or on a BASI Assessment you will be subject to our cancellation policy.

4. Flights, Accommodation and Transfers.

a. New Generation do not supply any accommodation or transfers for Standalone BASI Assessments.

b. We can suggest some companies to you, but they will be booked on a private basis and you will be subject to the individual companies Terms and Conditions.

c. We strongly recommend that you do not book any flights, accommodation, transfers or lifts passes until you have had confirmation (up to 6 weeks before commencement) that your course is confirmed and running.

5. All course invoices and resources will be sent to the postal or email address supplied on your Booking Form.

a. It is your responsibility to keep the New Generation office informed of any change of address after booking onto a course. This must be confirmed in writing by email or letter to the New Generation office.

6. New Generation on Behalf of BASI reserves the right to refuse training to any applicant who, in the opinion of BASI:

a. does not meet, or is not likely to meet, the minimum standard for the appropriate grade.

b. is unsuitable for Snowsport Instructor training.

7. In the event that an applicant is refused training on the basis of points 6a. and/or  6b. above, no monies will be refunded.

8. You confirm that you have met the prerequisites and have read and understood the self-selection criteria for the course you are attending.

9. Snowsports are conducted in an open environment, resulting in mountain conditions that can change significantly day to day. For this reason terrain access may be limited in poor conditions, with the result that not all the criteria listed for the course is covered.

10. Every effort is made to cover all the criteria for the course. However, the Trainer reserves the right to refuse participation in elements of the course that he, or she, deems to be dangerous or unsuitable. Any decision will be based on the individual’s skill demonstrated during the course and in conjunction with the piste and snow conditions.

11. You agree, that except for death or personal injury arising through the negligence of BASI, BASI shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising whether in respect of death, bodily injury, illness suffered or loss, costs or damages or expenses incurred.

BASI Assessment Prerequisites:

Alpine Level 1

The following prerequisites must be met before attending an Alpine Level 1 Instructor course. Students must:

  • Be able to ski parallel confidently, coping with a variety of conditions
  • Be able to ski parallel on red runs, making rhythmical short turns at a steady pace
  • Be able to ski parallel long turns on a green or easy blue slope with the skis carving the last two thirds of the turn
  • Minimum age 16 years old
  • It is recommended that applicants have completed at least 16 full weeks of skiing

Alpine Level 2

The following prerequisites must be met before attending an Alpine Level 2 Instructor course. Students must have:

  • Successful completion of the Alpine Level 1 Instructor Qualification
  • Full BASI Membership and valid Alpine Level 1 Instructor License
  • 35 hours of Snowsport School Experience *

An additional 35 hours of Snowsport School Experience is required between completion of the Alpine Level 1 Instructor course and attendance of the Alpine Level 2 Instructor course.

*35 hrs of shadowing/teaching must be completed and submitted to the BASI Office no more than 5 days prior to commencing the Alpine Level 2 Instructor course. Please refer to the BASI website for further information.

BASI 10 and 11 Week Residential BASI 1/2 Courses Terms and Conditions

1. The applicant must have fulfilled all of the course prerequisites and attended an Open Day / skied with a New Generation instructor prior to the course if deemed necessary and wherever possible.

2. The applicant must be 18 years or older on the first day of the course.

3. The application will only be accepted and secured provided:

a. The application is accompanied by a minimum £500 non-refundable and non-transferable deposit

b. The Chalet Damage Disclaimer and Learning Agreement are signed and returned

c. The applicant accepts these terms and conditions of booking

d. Parental consent must be obtained prior to booking if the applicant is under 18 at the time of booking.

4. It is the student’s’ responsibility to determine that you have the health and fitness that is required to ski 6hrs a day for 6 days a week for the duration of the course.  New Generation will not refund students if they are unable to continue with training due to health and fitness levels.

5. For insurance reasons you MUST notify us of all pre-existing medical conditions and health issues that have necessitated the need to seek medical advice. This will not affect your application for the course but will allow us to support you during the course.

6. Full course fee may be paid over a set number of installments as agreed by New Generation. You agree to pay the full amount of these installments by the dates specified to you by the New Generation Office.

7. The balance of your course fee must be received in full at the New Generation office by the 15th October 2017 for Verbier courses and 15th November 2017 for 3 Valley courses unless otherwise stated or agreed.

8. New Generation reserves the right to amend advertised content and dates of the course up to 6 months before the start date. Any modifications will be communicated via email or letter. BASI and New Generation strongly recommend that all students embarking upon a BASI course take appropriate insurance which covers both cancellation and curtailment.

9. All students must hold appropriate insurance for their gap course.

10. If the venue of the course is adversely affected by snow, weather or any other circumstances, New Generation reserves the right to cancel the course or alter the venue without prior notice or warning.

11. New Generation will refund appropriate monies if the decision is made by New Generation or BASI to cancel all or part of a training course.

 12. If you, the delegate, chooses to cancel their space on a course or on a BASI Assessment you will be subject to our cancellation policy.

13. Any student found under the influence of alcohol or drugs during course contact time will be removed from the course with no refund.  We also reserve the right to refuse training to any student that is displaying unacceptable and anti-social behavior during and outside of course contact time. This includes contact with members of the course, the mentors and members of the local community.

14. In the event that an applicant is refused training on the basis of paragraph 13 no monies will be refunded.

15. In the event the students fails any aspect of their BASI Level 1 exam (technical, teaching or both), New Generation will attempt to organise a resit within the course dates. It is not guaranteed that an exam will be available before the BASI Level 2 exam at the end of the course. The student will be responsible for the Level 1 resit fee.

16. The After the Gap Alpine Course requires a minimum of 5 students to run.

17. All students will be provided with a course jacket which they will be required to wear (clean) when taking part in ski school shadowing and training. A sufficient number of jackets have been ordered but if sizes are not available New Generation reserves the right to provide a similar alternative jacket.

18. There will be a maximum number of 10 students in each of the on-snow training groups.

19. It is the individual student’s responsibility to ensure that all accommodation, transport and any other facilities provided by BASI, New Generation or their employees or agents, are treated with respect and consideration. We require a guarantee agreement (“Chalet Damage Disclaimer”) to be signed prior to the arrival of the students by their parent or guardian.

20. New Generation and BASI will not be responsible for any damage caused by a student or students. Students will be held liable for any costs incurred in such a way and will agree to settle any costs immediately.

21. New Generation reserved the right to alter the advertised accommodation and chalet but within the advertised package requirements.

22. The chalet staff will provide a balanced two week rotating menu. In instances where individuals have specific dietary requirements and extra costs are incurred, the student may need to cover these additional costs.

23. Students on all 3 Valley Courses will be issued with a season lift pass for the 3 Valleys.  For Verbier Courses students will be issued with a 4 Valley season lift pass.  Lift passes will be issued upon arrival to resort when the course starts unless otherwise requested and agreed.

24. New Generation Residential BASI 1 & 2 is a 10 or 11 week course. Training for 7 or 8 weeks of this course is delivered by trainers employed directly by New Generation; the other 3 weeks of this course are delivered by BASI Trainers supplied and approved by BASI under our BASI partner agreement.

25. You agree that BASI and New Generation shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising whether in respect of death, bodily injury, illness suffered or contracted, loss, costs, damages or expenses incurred. Except for death or personal injury arising through the negligence of BASI or New Generation.  

BASI 2 FastTrack Course Terms and Conditions

1. The applicant must have fulfilled all of the course prerequisites and attended an Open Day / skied with a New Generation instructor prior to the course if deemed necessary and wherever possible.

2. The application will only be accepted and secured provided:

a. The application is accompanied by a minimum £500 non-refundable and non-transferable Initial Deposit.

b. Booking confirmation email has been received

c. The applicant accepts these terms and conditions of booking

d. The parental consent form is signed by a parent or guardian if the applicant is under 18

3. Full payment is received in by the New Generation office before the 15th October 2017 unless otherwise stated or agreed.

4. If you, the delegate chooses to cancel their space on a course or on a BASI Assessment you will be subject to our cancellation policy.

5. The Course requires a minimum of 5 students to run for the full course duration. In the event that we have less than 5 students we will notify you to confirm the revised course duration or cancellation.

6. New Generation will refund appropriate monies if the decision is made by New Generation to cancel all or part of the Training Course.

7. Any student found under the influence of alcohol or drugs during course contact time will be removed from the course with no refund.

8. New Generation expects all students to behave in a professional manner at all times. Any student who behaves in a way which may cause damage to New Generation or its reputation shall be removed from the course.

9. In the event that an applicant is refused training or removed from the course on the basis of

paragraph 7 and/or 8 no monies will be refunded.

10. It is the individual student’s responsibility to ensure that all accommodation, transport and any other facilities provided by New Generation or their employees or agents, are treated with respect and consideration.

11. New Generation will not be responsible for any damage caused by a student or students. Students will be held liable for any costs incurred in such a way and will agree to settle any costs immediately.

12. You agree that New Generation shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising whether in respect of death, bodily injury, and illness suffered or contracted, loss, costs, damages or expenses incurred, except for death or personal injury arising through the negligence of New Generation.

Alpine Level 3 and 4 Training Terms and Conditions

1. The applicant must have fulfilled all of the course pre-requisites, we may ask for a self assessment questionnaire and that the delegates attend a selection day if deemed necessary.

2. The application will only be accepted and secured provided:

a. The application is accompanied by a minimum CHF.850.00 non-refundable and non-transferable initial deposit.

b. Booking confirmation email has been received

c. The applicant accepts these terms and conditions of booking

d. The parental consent form is signed by a parent or guardian if the applicant is under 18

3. The remaining instalment in respect of your Level 3 or 4 Course must be received in full at the New Generation office by 15 Nov 2017 unless otherwise stated or arranged with New Generation.

4. The Level 3 or 4 Course requires a minimum of 5 students to run for the full course duration. In the event that we have less than 5 students we will notify you to confirm the revised course duration or cancellation.

5. New Generation will refund appropriate monies if the decision is made by New Generation to cancel all or part of the Training Course.

6. New Generation will not be responsible for any damage caused by a student or students. Students will be held liable for any costs incurred in such a way and will agree to settle any costs immediately.

7. You agree that New Generation shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising whether in respect of death, bodily injury, and illness suffered or contracted, loss, costs, damages or expenses incurred, except for death or personal injury arising through the negligence of New Generation.

Ski School Experience Terms and Conditions

Pre-Requisites

  • To have successfully completed the Alpine Level 1 Assessment
  • Valid Criminal Record Disclosure

Please note that if we need a minimum of 3 people to run this course. If there are insufficient numbers we will reduce the number of hours of personal performance accordingly. We will endeavour to help you reach 35 hours of ski school experience and may be able to offer you other Ski School Experience with New Generation including:

  • Understanding how bookings are taken and how people are selected into different standards
  • Understanding how customer satisfaction is assessed and how dissatisfied customers are dealt with
  • Understanding how the Customer satisfaction procedures improve Instructor and administrational practices
  • Taking part in and understanding in house staff training for Instructors
  • Understanding how Snowsports Schools maintain Safety standards and maintain their currency of good practice
  • Understanding the Risk Assessment process that Snowsport Schools and Instructors take
  • Understand Accident and First Aid procedures including accident reporting
