Ski Instructor Course
Austria
If you’re serious about making a career in ski instruction, then Stubai is the resort for you. This little-known resort is one of the best-kept secrets of pro skiers across the globe. During autumn and spring, the resort is a second home to the world’s best freeskiers and racers. Unlike most glacial ski areas Stubai is far more than just a couple of old T-Bars and 3 or 4 runs. The resort boasts over 20 lifts and 120Km of marked runs making it bigger than Morzine. Home to the DC Zoo Park, one of Europes largest and the New Eisgratbahn lift which takes just 11 minutes to carry you to the main runs at 3000m above sea level it is unrivalled as a location for pre-season programmes.
During the course, your skiing will transform as you work towards the internationally recognised BASI 1 & 2 Qualification. Finishing before the season even starts, many of our students go on to secure work in Switzerland, Japan or Austria.
Glacial ski resorts inspire a range of emotions. If you are one of the few, who have experienced glacial skiing, you will know that it usually involves a long journey on a sequence of lifts, with huge queues to a small patch of snow which turns to slush as soon as you arrive or resembles an ice rink for the entire day. But Stubai is different. If we didn’t tell you the slopes were on a glacier, you would probably never know. Stubai is Europes largest glaciated ski area boasting over 20 lifts and 120 Km of skiable terrain. It is larger than Morzine. The new Eisgratbahn lift whisks you up to 3000m in 11 minutes.
It is no wonder then that the world’s elite skiers make Stubai a second home for Autumn and Spring training. With terrain that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, Stubai will continue to surprise and challenge you throughout the course. The DC Zoo park is one of the largest in Europe and hosts a world cup Freestyle event in November during your stay.
Unlike all our other courses the Stubai Programme also gives you access to one of Europes coolest cities. Innsbruck is just 30 minutes away, with there are regular buses costing only €5 if you fancy exploring the city. With events like Crankworx and world cup climbing planned there is plenty worth seeing.
Your coaches are handpicked from our teams across the Alps to help you reach your potential, cement your love for the sport and show you the best terrain on the mountain. All of our coaches are qualified to the highest internationally recognised level, and many are BASI examiners. Meaning they know precisely what you have to do when the exams roll around. During the course, you will become versatile all-mountain skiers capable of tackling anything the mountain throws at you. Your training will develop your skiing in all areas from Piste Performance to freestyle, building your technical understanding and honing your teaching skills.
Whatever your goal, this program provides the best way to advance your skiing and continue your progression. With all the training, kit and support you need to become one of the world’s best instructors or take your riding to a level that will make others envious.
New Generation ski instructor training centres Courchevel residential programme is an 11-week course. Training for five weeks of this course is delivered by New Generation. Having somewhere to switch off and relax is a crucial ingredient in making sure you get the most from your ski instructor course. We like to think the accommodation is excellent on all our programmes but in Stubai, the chalet is a little bit special. We have teamed up with Doug’s mountain getaway, and the result is the ultimate place to relax and unwind.
With a hot tub, sauna, cinema screen, climbing area, full-size pool table, full-size table tennis table, bar, poker table, games consoles and a whole host of other features you will never be short of things to do. If you think we are overselling this a little maybe we should mention that Doug’s mountain getaway won Hostelworlds hostel of the year award in 2017. We have the whole thing just for you. DMG only has five twin rooms, so there are only ten places available on this course. Once it’s gone, it’s gone – don’t miss out.
During the program, you’ll work towards your BASI (British Association of Snowsports Instructors) Level 1 & 2. BASI offers a great route into the industry, with the Level 2 being recognised in ski schools around the globe, from right here in Europe to Japan, New Zealand and China to name a few.
The BASI level 2 will open doors to teaching clients of all ages on marked runs within the resort boundary. If you are looking at doing this programme as part of a gap year, then the BASI 2 has a few added benefits. It is aligned with the EQF (European Qualifications Framework) meaning you can use it to help secure access to further education. You will also find that during your university holidays there are plenty of opportunities to head out to the Alps and teach during the peak weeks.
Choosing the right course for you is an essential part of the process and will make your experience far more rewarding. If this course is not quite right then why not look at some of our other ski instructor courses?
