3 Valley’s BASI level 3 ISIA training programme

The step from BASI Level 2 to BASI Level 3 (ISIA) is a big one but with the help of our BASI trainers, students will be coached towards the key modules. This hard and intense but extremely effective ISIA training course prepares students for the Alpine BASI Level 3 (ISIA) Technical, Teaching, Off-Piste Mountain Safety and Alpine Performance Modules. You will also study french to ensure you are working towards passing your second language exam.

Choosing your ISIA training course is a big decision.  We believe that our BASI Level 3 ISIA training in Courchevel gives you a complete training package for going on to take your BASI Level 3 Ski Instructor exams. The course is run from the home of our ski school, Courchevel, and puts students in the perfect environment not just to pass their Level 3 exams but to take their career to the next level. The New Generation BASI Level 3 ISIA training in Courchevel runs from January to the end of March, with a break over half-term. The focus is all on preparing for the March exams in Courchevel or the end of season exams on the Hintertux Glacier.

With off and on snow preparation and training this course has a high success rate and often feeds graduates in to our Swiss ski schools.

The Skiing & Training

Courchevel – Part of the world’s biggest ski area

The Three Valley’s is world famous and rightly so, nothing we can say will do this place justice. From World Cup standard Pistes to mogul fields, glacial skiing, epic tree lines, steep couloirs and wide open powder faces there is something for everyone. The only way to truly know this place is to spend a season there and even then you will not ski it all. The massive variety of terrain makes this the perfect place to sit your BASI ski instructor training. You have perfect pistes for practicing and demonstrating the exam criteria right next to powder fields and tree runs where you can let your hair down.

All of your training will be delivered by BASI Level 4 ISTD instructors or BASI trainers. Their aim is to make you the best skiers possible, you will spend time on piste refining your technique, in the backcountry developing your all mountain skills, preparing for the exams and having some fun.

Of course it’s not all about the skiing. There is a reason the rich and famous flock to Courchevel and the resorts of Le Praz and La Tania are full  of lively seasonnaire parties, hosting regular band nights and showing live sports. Plus you can easily pop over to sample the nightlife in nearby Meribel.

Useful Information before starting your course

We know you will have loads of questions about what else you might need for your course, how much money you will need, and more…

What additional costs do I need to consider?

There are always extra costs you will need to consider when applying for any Instructor course, from lift passes to accommodation. Therefore the following list will help guide you through the extra costs:

Lift Passes

  • Courchevel Lift Pass – €1040
  • Trois Vallees Lift Pass – €1240

Accommodation

The village of Le Praz is one of the more reasonably priced parts of Courchevel, and you are looking at between €2500 and €4000 for a shared room. For your own room you are looking at €5000+ (€5000 would be a lucky find!).

If you are happy to live further down the mountain in Bozel then you will find that you get a lot more for your money. There is a bus that runs from 7am till 8pm so a car would not be essential but you may feel a bit stranded with out one.

This Facebook group is used a lot to find accommodation as the season comes closer:

Food and living

There are small supermarkets in town, but it is advantageous to have a car, or a friend with a car as most people will want to shop in Moutiers and the bus only goes down there twice a day (during ski time!).

Are there possibilities to work during the course?

Yes!

The courses breaks during the peak periods of February half term and the Easter weeks. You are more than welcome to plan your work independently but we have several partner ski schools who look to us to provide them with staff during this period which makes your life slightly easier. The majority of these partners are big international ski schools that will give you really valuable work experience.

If you wish to work during the course in resort this is also possible, transfer driving and cleaning are not the most glamorous jobs but pay well and normally fit with the course schedule.

Your Future

As soon as you start your ISIA qualification you will realise that there is no right way to complete your instructors qualifications, it is all about finding the way that is right for you.

For students who successfully complete their ISIA qualification as part of this course or any of our other programmes we have our highly successful Verbier training team. This team combines work during the busy periods of the season with an intensive 6 week training programme leading up to the Level 4 tech and teach exams.

If spending a whole season training is not for you then you could consider our exam prep weeks. Run by our Tech team which consists of BASI trainers, Eurotest openers and BASI demo team members these weeks are the perfect way to make the final changes before your exams.

We quite often find that upon completion of their ISIA students who did decide to join the Verbier training team quite often stay on and move into one of our French ski schools. In some cases going full cycle and running the same instructor course they started on.

Other BASI Level 3 ISIA courses

If our Courchevel BASI level 3 ski instructor courses are not right for you, then not worry, we have others available in Verbier and a work and train option in St Anton.
