Introduction

Ski Instructor Training in France

Our new Courchevel Performance & Adventure Course is a little different to anything we have delivered before. The ski instructor qualifications take a back seat here. Our focus is on developing skills and qualifications to support you throughout your life and professional career, whether you are on a mountain or in a board room.

On this course, you will spend time skiing with some of our best coaches on some of the world’s best terrain. We aim to develop your skiing and confidence so that you can tackle everything, from tough bumps runs to steep couloirs and world cup pistes.

As with all of our long residential courses, Avalanche equipment is included as standard. Avalanche safety and rescue training are essential skills for any aspiring Freeriders. Our team focus on developing these skills throughout the course, and by the end of the programme, you will be able to safely navigate off-piste without a guide.

During the programme, you will spend time race training in gates/stubbies on the World Cup Stade, in the park with Freestyle coaches, in the bumps, working on Piste-Performance and of course skiing some of the incredible Freeride Terrain that Courchevel has to offer.

This combination of training helps you work towards the type of skiing you see in Freeride Competitions. Making you comfortable in the air, skiing at speed and in all conditions.

    Personal Performance Training

Regardless of the conditions, week one will focus on fun, on-piste technical skiing. You will begin working towards building a solid technical base. Towards the end of the week, you will begin to learn about your new avalanche safety equipment and how to ski off-piste safely, including avalanche rescue.

  • Week 2:

Technical Skiing & BASI Level 1 Exam Preparation

This week focuses on more adventurous technical skiing. You will spend 3 days in the gates on the stade. Practising slalom turns, controlling speed and line with ex-racers. In the afternoons we’ll focus on teaching sessions and technical understanding.

This week focuses on staying safe off-piste. However, we are not just focusing on avalanche safety. You will spend time ski touring, working on map reading and navigation, refining your avalanche awareness and learning some basic rope work. By the end of the week you should be happy to lead a group off-piste, safely choose a route and follow it using just a map and perform advanced rescue techniques including crevasse rescue with ropes.
