What makes Verbier such a great training resort?

Verbier Off Piste Adventures

Written by Andy Hind, Level 4 ISTD and course trainer for BASI 1/2 Residential course and ISIA Verbier.

Whether you are looking for something to do before University, want to change your career or simply fancy spending a winter in one of Switzerland’s most vibrant and stunning ski resorts, Verbier is definitely a great option for you.

Especially if you want to acheive a qualification whilst you ski!

There are many resorts in which you can do a BASI 1/2 course, but Verbier is a truly unique place. It has deservingly gained a reputation for being one of the worlds best resorts, and offers a training area like no other. The immaculately groomed ski area (part of the huge 4 Valleys) offers the perfect training ground to develop your skiing.

The resort really has everything you need to develop as a skier. The high altitude slopes above Medran provide season-long “hero snow” and the quiet wide slopes of Savoleyres provide a great place to work on high performance skiing. The great pistes are also accompanied by the vast off piste terrain. These areas provide everything you could need, including challenging bumps fields, steep couloirs and some of the best tree-skiing in the alps hidden over in Bruson.

At New Generation Verbier we pride ourselves on providing the best training environment possible, and we utilise Verbier’s many facilities. They include on-hill video feedback (in our private video analysis room), indoor fitness sessions, recovery sessions in the pool and sauna at the sports centre. Off-piste safety training and on-snow practice with avalanche safety equipment is covered by our resident off-piste expert David Roberts. You’ll also head out for a ski with our experienced instructor team and really explore everything Verbier has to offer.

We provide a luxurious catered chalet that is based right in the heart of Verbier town. It’s the perfect location for accessing both the slopes and the town centre. We will also provide ski servicing workshops, first aid training and lesson planning in the comfort of your own chalet.

As well as the great skiing and training, Verbier offers an amazing social scene. With a wide variety of bars and 4 nightclubs, there is something for everyone. For world famous après ski, head to Farinet in the town centre. Live bands play every night and dancing on the bar is a regular occurrence! For a slightly more relaxed evening, head to Pub Mont Fort at the bottom of the slopes for happy hour. It’s a great place to “debrief” after skiing. Alternatively head to New Gen favourite The Loft Bar, just off Place Central.

As well as superb nightlife, Verbier also boasts some huge events. Highlights include the Carlsberg Highfive event, which gives you the chance to race alongside world cup athletes, and the final of Swatch Freeride World Tour that take place on the famous Bec Des Rosses.

Our Verbier BASI Residential 1/2 course has a fantastic reputation for success, boasting a 100% pass rate for Level 2 candidates last winter. At New Gen we have further training and work opportunities in the 3 Valleys, Verbier and neighbouring Villars.
